MDI has done amazing work to support Dance on Merseyside. Local artists, the community and professionals need support to be able to continue to work and present their work in and around Merseyside.

MDI have created opportunities for inclusive, high quality, contemporary dance to be enjoyed by everyone...out on the streets, in the studio, in the theatre, in unexpected places and digitally. They are at the heart of contemporary dance delivery in the NW and part of the cultural landscape. Please ensure they continue to be supported to deliver their programme of work.

MDI are a well established organisation that supports and provides facilities and development for artists and people who are interested in dance . The organisation has a positive impact on physical and mental health in Liverpool as well giving a platform for artists.

How short sighted... to cease funding an organisation that helps people through an activity that benefits physical and mental well being, that allows people a voice, that encourages people to strive, to believe, to be.
MDI works directly with the community it serves and creates opportunities, it innovates and consistently looks to the future to see how it can continue to grow and to connect.
Why wouldn't you want that to flourish?

MDI are a fabulous organisation that have done so much for the arts and communities across Merseyside. It makes no sense that there funding should not continue and that the organisation should be part of ACE's new ideas for the Northwest dance scene rather than instead of.

MDI is a great dance organisation which has done many fantastic work across different communities in Merseyside through their various dance workshop/projects, education workshops in schools at all levels, developing and training of talented young dancers and giving them or opportunity to showcase their talents and by supporting many professional dancers through training, funding and various opportunities. I therefore support the motion that this organisation deserves a commendable support/ funding from government and all funding bodies in order to continue to carry on their meaningful, life changing, commendable and their valuable work in Merseyside.

This is a vital part of the community. Cuts would result in loss of opportunity for many people around Liverpool.

MDI is amazing and should be supported by ACE. It has a great 25 year track record - it doesn't make sense that it is no longer an NPO .

MDI has supported me as an independent dance artist to make and perform work, my children take part in their youth classes and I have volunteered for their Dance for Parkinsons sessions. They also bring seasoned live art work to the stage for the people of Liverpool to see. I am just one person. They do this and more for many many more....

It is so short sighted to cut support for this and other grassroots organisations! Perhaps they are not creating new ways of being but sometimes the things they have been doing for years are living proof that it works and doesn’t need reinventing. Artists and communities just need them it’s really as simple as that.

The Arts Council have made a terrible call here, which will have a significant impact on the arts in Liverpool.
