MDI provide a valuable service and resource for the diverse people of all ages and abilities in Liverpool and Merseyside. They enable connectivity between different communities and activities that improve health and prevent health issues. Their work with young people is so vital in communities of deprivation, they have great engagement tools and are true role models for young people to enter pathways to the creative arts, performing and career opportunities. They have provided valuable work for diverse older people bringing fun, and a vibrant experience to older people who would be isolated at home and not as mobile as they are getting involved in dance and movement sessions a fantastic health tonic and one that has been successful over the years. I feel that they should be considered within the Lottery portfolio and supported to enable sustainability of their services.

Dance is a part of our community and is one of the things that separates Liverpool from other cities. By removing funding you are removing a sense if community from a city that is so diverse.

I did a performance internship with MDI and it completely changed my attitude to dance practice and performance. The organisation is an essential cog in the dance industry not just in Merseyside but in the North West. The support and oppurtunitues provided for emerging and established artists alike is invaluable.

MDI is not only the main champion of dance in the region, it is also one of the leaders in championing diversity arts it the country. Their work, whether at promoting quality dance or community access to great dance experiences is second to none. An organisation we can all learn a lot from.
