The closure or loss of jobs in this most important service to the local communities would be a discrace.

Control is the name of the game. The LDCs have proven that they are successfully fulfilling their mission as initiated and now there is a real danger that Local Government at County level or within the Department what to 'own' that success. Could it be that the Minister for the Environment wants to extend his remit/popularity with the Managers and Councillors and seek to hijack this community success and incorporate it within Officialdom. The EU needs to be alerted to this 'grab' strategy.

Ballyhoura has been responsible for bringing south east Limerick and several other areas back to life. The are now the heart beat of many rural communities. We need their expertise to be maintained & nurtured.

"Bottom Up Development" has worked extremely well over the last twenty years in most Counties in Ireland and has yielded many very successful and necessary projects both "in" and "for" local communities. The facility to allow Rural Communities decide and determine what their needs are best served by the rural communities themselves without politics taking over this role. Politicians /Councilors should be there to support rural communities to "self help" and assist in securing funding strands etc.

Ballyhoura are doing a excellent job for the local community , their administration costs are low if this role is transferred to local council then the costs will be far greater

This is a campaign the people should mobilise to win. It is unconscionable that the Phil Hogans of this world have not learned that the people have moved on and are now evolving vastly higher levels of expectation from The Oireachtas and Local Government. It ain't broke Phil Hogan. So, of all people, don't you go fix it.

Valuable support and assistance given to our Residents' Association in cleaning up our area. Very much appreciated by us, and generously and pleasantly given by Ballyhoura Developmant.

local development companies work withand encourage local communities and groups to look at the best ways to develop their community. The Development companies have developed trust with these communities over years of service, creating jobs ,supporting local economies and promoting social inclusion. If the local Development companies go the man on thestreet the small towns and villages will have no voice.
