The Local Development Companies have extensive experience delivering Local Development Programmes. Most importantly is the relationships and trust built up with clients. It is a loss of intellectual resources to use any other bodies to deliver these programmes.

I have been dealing with one of the Local Development Companies recently and found their assistance and support invaluable. Unfortunately due to financial restrictions currently in place by the Goverment my project has not proceed to date. However a lot of work, time and communication have been recorded to date. I feel if the local development companies were to be decommissioned all of this eminence work would be wasted. I strongly believe that these companies should continue as they are. Their history to date speaks for itself. They are also now well educated in hoe the system works and the best ways to implement grants etc. To change this to local councils would inadvertently put the whole scheme back to square one and again practically flush the experience gained to date down the toilet. I urge the government not to change a system that works and concentrate on providing funding for the Local Development Companies in place. Please don't be proof of the statement I recently read that the Government seem to have a new motto... " If it isn't broke......break it!!"

Secad provides a valuable source of local assistance to the business community in Midleton and beyond it would be a real loss if this was no longer available

In order for for communuty development to work, it ahve real and worthwhile involvement at local level. in real term what this means is that communities must be involved in decision making about their own development and that that or their community.
