makes no logical, financial or cultural sense in disbanding the current LDC system - ask the groups we work with!

This would appear to be a continuation of a process that started circa 2010 with the introduction of the Local Community Development Programme, which at the time prevented Community Development Projects from accessing funding directly, instead being required to accss it through LDCs based on an agreed programme of work. This next process would further erode the input of local people into their communities. It will push the model further towards top-down service delivery rather than true bottom up, citizen led community development that can allow civil society to identify local needs and respond appropriately.

Local & Community Development Programme - the principles of the programme is in the name - its Local and its Community Development - its about helping our people and it involves a lot more than simply providing money. Its a programme where people are supported on a one-to-one basis where necessary. Its about bringing our communities forward regardless of age, colour or creed. Help us continue to give this essential support - continue to allow the LDC's deliver the programme.

Local Development Companies have and continue to support the those suffering from exclusion across Ireland. We must now support them in their fight to retain services within the community.

Local Development Companies must retain autonomy in the future rounds of funding. These organisations have no vested interest in the programmes and will ensure that monies and support are directed to where they are needed most.

LDCs have been successfully tackling poverty and social exclusion for over 20 years. Scrapping them makes no sense.

Any move away from community bottom up approach is detremental to local community activism and ownership and must be rejected
The help I received from SECAD in County Cork after I was made redundant in 2012 was extremely proactive, positive, supportive. Between attending a course(Pat Fleming) and a few one to one consultations (Cora O'Donnell),I looked at my skills, went on to retrain and have just received good news about a job. Thank You!!!

The young & old & everyone in between of Midleton & its surrounding areas has benefitted greatly from the support & services that SECAD provides. Should this be discontinued it would be devastating for the area.

We need to protect our bottom up approach towards rural development and job creation.
