We need local community support not a private enterprise which will not provide the services for the underprivileged & needy in our society

Small is beautiful! Please leave the 50 remaining local development organisations in place. They are close to the ground where the best actions are.

Local development companies have built up decades of experience and expertise in supporting community-led development. They have the capacity to respond quickly and flexibly to emerging needs. The Partnership element is key--community, voluntary and statutory agencies working together to address the needs of communities. The current structure achieves this--it would be a terrible shame to lose this.

I know first hand the great work the Leader do in their local communities. One of their strengths is that they are based in the heart of rural areas and this helps them tune into the needs of local communities and businesses.

Without the assistance of WLP I would not have been able to start my cycling holiday business which now provides a valuable service to County Waterford.

My experience delivering the Time to Change Programme for SECAD has shown me first hand the amazing contribution that SECAD and other LDC's make. Funding should continue for such valuable work.

I have personal experience of dealing with SECAD who provide a conduit for non-mainline training and development which is targeted at the needs of not only the local area but in partnership with other groups addresses European and National development aims and aspirations.
