Alot of us have seen the benefits of community led local development and vital community services. It’s simple really; Working alongside the community and identifying needs of the residents requires people on the ground.

Waterford Leader has served our communties so well over the last years. They have developed expertise based on local knowedge systematically acquried. It would be a huge loss if the experise and understanding of communities were to be surrendered at this imprortant moment in our social and economic life.

LDCs in Cork and Waterford are invaluable and their staff a real lifeline to unemployed people in both counties. It would be an act of sheer lunacy to breakdown the building blocks when we are trying to rebuild this country. Hopefully government will appreciate what they have in these precious organisations and leave well alone.

A vital lifeline for local communities especially those outside major cities - abandoning LDCs makes no sense whatsover and will only undo the local business and employment fabric of society.

I don't believe that council councils should manage these funding avenues as projects may get funding for political pressures than projects of merit.
