I support local development companies to remain to do their jobs. the county council will never do the same job. they'll try to do it but will cost double. phil hogan stop interfering.

Where is the logic? Why disrupt a functioning part of community development? Again we see evidence of a complete lack of foresight from the so called powers that be

another fine example of a scene from Hogans great tragedy "Putting People Last"... How much more farther from people can the decision making be taken. Are the boards of LDCs not comprised of various pillars and sectors as well as county councillors and staff officials? Leave things alone Hogan...

LDC's have been proactive and anticipatory, allowing projects to run smoothly and keep community groups abreast of what needs to be done. Without their passion and foresight, local projects would take twice as much time as they have.

The delivery of services must be given to local activists .all developements must be well planned to suit the areas where people are living and sustaining their communities . Tourism and agriculture are important to the future of this country and investing in these will bring rewards .

I Found the courses invaluable to my self belief and led me on to a creative course which I am still attending two years later and it's having an extremely positive effect on my life.

the historical knowledge of the local community needs is crtical to the successful delivery of the relevant needs to the individuals communities.

Privatisation of community schemes will hurt so many of the smaller communities. It will end many of them before they take root. As a business model bigger groups will become the focus and all else will become irrelevant.

Rural Areas need rural imput - the local development companies know whats on the ground and from my experience they give more than just their working hours to the community.

Local development companies develop the social infrastructure of communities; Local Authorities develop the physical infrastructure. Both tasks are essential and complementary, but they use different skills, different coordination structures, different types of measurements. If the Local authorities become responsible for the social development area they will have to re-invent the structures and flexibility of the local development companies if they are to be successful.

I work as a guidance counsellor in the area. The supports provided by Ballyhoura are vital to keep the community afloat and stop the tide of emigration.
