IN this economic climate these programmes are essential for the support and development of rural communities. They have had a hugely positive impact - please let it continue.

I believe our government should continue to mainyain the 50 existing, experienced Local Development Companies in Ireland as this is essential for Ireland´s economic recovery and are key to ensuring that we pursue a model of economic development that is more balanced, fairer and more sustainable.

We as a community need to deal with people who are on the ground and know what they are talking about.

If it isn't broken why fix it. Can you guarantee the same service and value for money?

This is such a valuable asset in our community and as always people only realise the wonderful work being undertaken when the service has been removed. Act now to ensure that your local development company continues to serve your local community.

This is another abandonment of rural Ireland. This seems to be the policy of our current governmentt. They refuse to develope tourism and have not created any jobs in rural Ireland .

South West Mayo Development company have been astounding in their support of our community initiative, their level of organisation and motivation to serve the community and most especially the members of their schemes astounds me. I believe services should be rationalised where required but this is not one of those cases, nobody could deliver theis service better than the existing infrastructure.
