Local Development Companies are an essential part of life in rural Ireland at a time when rural Ireland is suffering greatly. While many departments and many regulations are destroying Rural Ireland, Local Development Comapies in their present role are the bright sparks in our lives - supporting initiatives in cultire, heritage, social life and employment.

COMPANIES LIKE BALLYHOURA ARE THE LIFEBLOOD OF ANY SMALL COMMUNITY AND WITHOUT BALLYHOURA, MANY RURAL AREAS WOULD NOT BOAST THE SERVICES AND AMENITIES THAT THEY HAVE.

We need the services of our Local Development Company in Inishowen. We live in an isolated disadvantaged area, with the highest unemployment, and an out migration of skilled and qualified people. We would be lost without the LDC support to the community, fostering employment, providing training and social inclusion programmes.

Irish local Development Companies are in the heart of the communities and always fully updated and aware of the local issues and the needs of the local community. They are very accessable to all the small rural communities.

I support the continuation of the strong role that the existing Local Development Companies provide to the communities they serve throughout the country.

It would be an absolute disgrace to close this support network down with all that they do to help the local community.
I am on a Tus scheme with RPCP. They deliver many important services to very marginalized people in the community at bargain basement cost, and make widespread use of Volunteers, who would be much less likely to volunteer outside the community sector. These is a lot of expertise and local knowledge in the Community Sector which should not be wasted, and also their size has them well-placed to run schemes like TUS.Yes, save money by some integration with local authories to avoid duplication of services, but Don't privatize the Community sector!
