To The PA House:

We the undersigned restaurant and arts and entertainment venue owners and supporters of Lancaster County would like to express our support and gratitude to you for introducing a package of bills (SB 109) to help businesses that have been negatively affected by COVID-19. As you know, the arts, entertainment and food industries have attracted hundreds of thousands of tourists to Lancaster County and created an arts and culinary scene that rival those of much larger cities. Without our industry, both the city and county could lose its distinctive appeal and twenty years of economic recovery could be erased.

While entrepreneurs here have been exceedingly creative at making ends meet during unprecedented times, we are operating at dangerously low capacity and need our elected officials to come through for us in meaningful ways. The package of bills, if it remains intact, has the power to stabilize our industry and keep Lancaster vibrant for years to come.

With that in mind we ask that you and your colleagues from every part of the state, regardless of party affiliation, commit to working in a bipartisan manner to achieve these goals. The best chance we have is if Republicans and Democrats put aside their differences and work together for the betterment of all Pennsylvania businesses. Now is the time to see what can happen when we truly embrace the idea that we’re all in this together.

We are happy to use our voice to support your legislation and your efforts on behalf of small businesses. Please reach out to us here for any inquiries or requests.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned

Updates

January 28, 2021

The feedback from local business owners has been heavy and honest about how little is left in the tank. I have been spending my nights making calls to offices that seem intent on ignoring us. It is exhausting work but your signatures provide the only leverage we have to keep these conversations going.

January 28, 2021

Reaching this new level of support feels like a heavy weight being lifted from my shoulders even though the work ahead remains daunting. I am exhausted by the constant uphill climb but seeing this level of backing proves that our local venues are not fighting alone.

This has been devastating for my new business. I have been turned down for every grant due to opening in 2020 and not being able to prove a downturn in revenue from 2019. Please help!
