at a time when the world is threatened by corporations bending the truth to gain power, when fake news abound in the hands of the corrupt, we need those brave enough to stand up and tell what is actually happening. I admire Amitt Bhatt unreservedly. i think that if the UK refuses him sanctuary - in the face of overwhelming evidence of personal danger, of the impossibility of internal relocation and prove of his survival of government inflicted torture - then we are on the downward slope to a world without any values worth holding.
This man deserves our protection.

How is it possible that someone like Amitt Bhatt, who has already suffered so much for faithfully doing his job, does NOT deserve to be given asylum? He needs to be asylum immediately and be allowed to remain in the UK!

The harsh reality regarding India and it's relationship with the media is deeply worrying The Press Council of India (PCI) claim over 85 journalists have been murdered in India over the past 25 years.
As a British Asian journalist- I understand the complexities of South Asian (Indian) politics and the difficulties people like Amitt Bhatt face when speaking out against the state, it takes courage and conviction.
The British government must allow Amitt Bhattt to stay in the UK, so he can work in a peaceful and hostile free environment -anything less would be seen as the UK being complicit and endangering Amitt's life!

Whats wrong with UK, this is the type of person we should be overjoyed to have in our community, not sending them off to an uncertain future and possible death. Have we in UK completely lost all notion of COMMON SENSE and MORALITY, this man must stay.

Hope the government will take into account the sensitivity of the matter.Working against the interests of government for a journalist is always challenging.They need protection.If they provide with their published material as evidence,what else is needed more.

Amitt must stay as he faces real and dangerous threats were he to be forced to return to India. Amitt is a committed investigatory journalist and deserves the respect and protection of the UK authorities. The NUJ fully supports his claim for asylum.
