There exists a spirit in hospice care that is becoming diminished in the Hospice "industry" of today. Jody Norton exemplifies that spirit. Above all, Jody can be counted on to defend the patient first, compassionate, and clinically expert care delivered in a spirit of loving service. At great sacrifice to her own well-being Jody has been stood by those principles that define Hospice as it was meant to be for 19 years. I can not believe that here exists energy within Yolpo Hospice that would want to dminsh something that has defined it so well for 19 years. I support Jody Norton and would call upon the Board of Directors to vigorously investigate the circumstances that led to her termination and to very seriously consider what the fall-out of this decision will be if they were to believe that this action s even remotely justified.

ok let me get this straight. The director of patient care is unanimously respected, maintained culture through all these recent changes . Then one man comes from across country, and says she is not capable, the board believes this, allows her to be fired not looking at her 19 years of respected compassionate care . Who are we, who would believe this one man? This is simply unbelievable. Always have been proud to work here until now.

i have made an annual donation to this organization for 11years solely on the experience we had with our nurse Jody Norton! Never again! You can not tell me that this woman ever did anything that deserved such poor treatment. Shame on Yolo Hospice. No contact please!

We can't give you enough comfort at the moment because you've been crumbled to pieces but I want you to know how grateful I am to have you as a mentor when I started at YH, an area of nursing where it's so different and new to me. You turned me and molded me into not just a caring nurse but a different person, you planted the "heart of hospice" in me. You made me able to get through difficult situations , you made me succeed and embrace the glory of being a hospice nurse. I think YH is the best workplace I've ever been. Voices are heard here, but now, a lot of our co-workers are scared to speak for it may cause their jobs, and they have families to feed and kids to send to school. This is not a good feeling. When the pt's families asks me how I am able to do my job, I answer them, " because I have the best and supportive boss, (with you in my mind)". Knowing I can call you and discuss anything with you made me confident as a hospice nurse. Ever since the day you interviewed me to get this job, I already knew you are the nurse I wish to become someday, caring with a heart, knowledgeable, experienced with superb critical thinking, and your management style is very family centered, just to name a few. This is Yolo Hospice that I've known. Family centered. YH team can deliver the very best care to other families because our own family is well cared for by YH. I wish the same courtesy will be extended to you, the one who cares for YH nurses, the deliverer of care to our patients.

I support a review of her termination. This is indeed unfortunate for Yolo Hospice, and unfair to Jody Norton.

BAD BUSINESS DECISION ! I hope those of you board members can live with yourselfs after you let what happened to Jody. You just dont fire your best employee ( my opinion ) One who has given 19 years of service to Yolo Hospice. A person with high marks on every evalation for the past 19 years. A person who makes it all work with the staff. A person who makes the staff around her better. A person who lives Yolo Hospice. A person who connects well with the community. A person who is well respected in the community. BAD BUSINESS DECISION !

I also call for a review of the process at tomorrow's meeting. Rules of confidentiality regarding personnel actions will prevent the board from providing specifics about any legitimate reasons for such a termination. I don't expect to be enlightened in that regard. I cannot imagine on what grounds Craig would terminate Jody without Board involvement before the fact; I want to know if the Board got to review his "charges" before giving their support to his action. The only exception would be if there is evidence that she may have committed a crime. A policy or protocol violaiton should be subject to a conduct review and opportunity to correct behaviour. I will hold an open place in my heart to hear reasons for Craig's community rending action. As it stands right now, I feel betrayed by him and his praises about our volunteer community because this is a punch in the gut to this community. I will listen with a pained heart and open mind.

I am shocked that such a drastic action was taken. I support a review of the process that ended in Jody’s termination. Her love and commitment to YH deserves such a review.

Jody Norton and I go back about 10 years and during that time I've seen a person of compation for anybody that comes up to her weather they are a friend or stranger. She's always had this wit about her that made an uncomfortable situation be an easy going fun like feeling. Never have I seen her be anything different, seems hard to believe but I haven't. Jody has made Yolo Hospice a very caring compassionate place to work and help the community with a tough situation we may have to go through in life. I don't understand why someone of Yolo Hospice could "Fire" her... Let's stop messing with people's lives and put Jody back where she belongs (Yolo Hospice) !!
