We the undersigned support the planned independent public research on blight resistant GM potatoes in Ireland proposed by Teagasc that will involve experimental field trials. We understand that this research is: - independent and involves no commercial companies - needed to provide information to Irish farmers - safe and poses no health concerns - is important to reduce the 1000's of litres of fungicide used on Irish land every year to combat blight - is important to provide options for new varieties of blight resistant potatoes to be produced in the face new forms of blight We call on the Green movement and activists to allow the research to be completed and data analysed before condemning the application of the technology.

The momentum is incredible. It is clear that people want the data to speak for itself.

The amount of chemicals we spray on crops is insane. We need science-based solutions if we want to actually move forward instead of just complaining about everything new.

My family has farmed in wicklow for generations and blight is a constant nightmare. Let the experts do their jobs and see if this actually helps the land.

Too much knee jerk reactions. If its safe and helps farmers use less poison then why are people blocking it? madness.
