This is a request from the athletes, parents of athletes and taxpayers in support of athletes of the TUFSD.

We request the BOE and TUFSD and Christopher Borsari, Superintendent of TUFSD write a public statement in FAVOR of ALL athletics moving forward in January 2021.

In the Fall 2020 the focus was on opening school buildings safely for students and teachers and navigating the remote/hybrid world. There was less science and data showing that schools and sports were safe.

We now know that in person learning and all sports are safe to play regarding COVID, with proper protocols and procedures in place.

The low/moderate sports were safe and successful this Fall. The virus is NOT spreading in your school buildings.

We know that adjustments will need to be made by schedules adjusted, and protocols in place but we are confident this is attainable.

With mental health emergency room visits for teenagers up 31% this should be a top priority.

With equity, a constant focus of the TUFSD, it is in the best interest of all our athletes to get them on the fields and courts to allow the the scholarship/college opportunities they deserve.

Having the science and data now, and now the support and request of the community you all work for, we are requesting that you write a public statement in support of ALL sports starting up January 2021, in the timeline set by NYSPHSAA in the fall, January 4,2021 winter sports, March 1, 2021 fall 2, and April 19 2021 spring sports.

The Horsemen Athletes, their parents and community are in favor of all sports moving forward and we expect you to promote your support by January 1, 2021.

Updates

December 21, 2020

I have been glued to my phone reading through these comments and honestly it just breaks my heart to see how much these kids are struggling without their sports schedules to keep them grounded. I am drafting up a formal letter to the school board right now because they really need to see these stories since they seem to think this is just about gym class instead of actual mental health and scholarships.

My son needs this for his head. Being stuck at home is killing his motivation and his future. Please listen to us!

Enough is enough. These kids have lost enough already. Get them back on the field finally!

#letthemplay There doesn't have to be spectators, just the athletes! They deserve this!

Sports are an essential part of our senior year. If they can be done safely, they should be done.

Let them play! Kids don’t get sick playing or practicing outdoors. Limit face-to-face meetings, film sessions, etc, but not practice or games.
