Kia ora, Thank you for the opportunity to respond to this petition. I would like to express my full support for the principles and intent of Te Tiriti o Waitangi as the foundational document of Aotearoa New Zealand. Upholding Te Tiriti is essential to ensuring equitable, inclusive, and culturally responsive practices within our school community. I acknowledge the significance of partnership, participation, and protection as outlined in Te Tiriti, and I believe that the actions proposed in this petition align with these principles. Strengthening our commitment to Te Tiriti not only supports Māori learners and whānau but also enriches the educational environment for all students. I fully endorse the kaupapa of this petition and encourage the school to take the recommended steps to honour Te Tiriti authentically and meaningfully. Ngā mihi nui,

I support HoraHora schools decision to honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi as many Maori students thrive in their identity under Te Tiriti and I believe it's important for all students to learn and understand the history of our own country.

Kei konei tonu mātou e tū tahi ai, tangata whenua, tangata tiriti mō āke tonu, ā, i muri roa iho i te wā poto o te rongonui o tēnei kāwanatanga!! Toitū te tiriti. Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles of partnership, protection and participation ensures that Māori students, whānau, and communities can fully participate in all aspects of education, with equitable opportunities and outcomes, and that the school environment reflects the bicultural identity of Aotearoa. These principles aim to eliminate disparities and racism, foster a sense of belonging and cultural affirmation for Māori learners as tangata whenua and enrich the educational experience for ALL ākonga by acknowledging the unique identity and heritage of Aotearoa.
