The department has reversed its decision and Tony Apesos will remain on faculty. We successfully demonstrated the necessity of his ongoing presence in the program. I will continue to monitor the administration to ensure this commitment to his position remains firm.

This letter is written and signed by Almuni (and some current students) in Support of Tony Apesos.

We are incredibly disappointed to hear that Tony Apesos will no longer be teaching in the MFA Visual Arts Program. As a founder of the program, Tony has been a cornerstone of the program's faculty. His knowledge of history, technique and critical theory were crucial resources for many of us. His varied expertise has been invaluable to students working in all mediums as we try to place our individual messages within the greater framework of artistic dialogue, arts communities and the ever-changing art marketplace. He is a generous educator, continuously spending extra time outside of his required schedule to guide and advise. Tony's genuine concern for, and investment in, the future of each student is an inspiration that we all feel should not be disregarded.

We understand that circumstances arise and sometimes, difficult decisions need to be made, but we truly feel that without Tony Apesos, this program would suffer a great loss. Please do not make the mistake of letting him go.

I have submitted a formal request for a meeting with the department administration to discuss the faculty retention policy. We are currently compiling the documentation of pedagogical impact to present as a baseline for our position.

Jack Booth mattered, John Kramer mattered, Tony Apesos matters. This program has an abysmal record of getting rid of important educators that matter and replacing them with "names" that don't. Stop it! We're not Yale, thank Christ! Richard Cutrona MFA 2009

I helped recruit for this program when it first launched. As a former LU insider I'm here to tell you Anthony Apesos is the conscience of this program. I fear for its integrity without him there.

How can traditional boundries be challenged unless they are understood? My work was not traditional. Tony gave me more input, consideration and help than anyone I can think of.He is the backbone of the program. Maybe he should be promoted?

Tony is an integral part of LUCAD. Not only was he an amazing advisor, giving of his time and knowledge but prior to my acceptance into Lesley he took the time to speak with me about my work and the program. This is a man who has great integrity and truly cares about the students and the program.

Tony Apesos was the person who met we me when i resubmitted my application to the program. With his encouragement and guidance i would not have re applied. I also had the pleasure to sit in his classes and gain much needed knowledge that only he could provide. Nayda Cuevas

Tony Apesos was a wonderful presence during my MFA years - 2009-2011. Although his medium - painting - was seemingly unrelated to mine - video/multimedia installation - what I learned from him was invaluable!

I wouldn't be the artist I am today without Tony's guidance. His intelligence, curiosity, patience, and wit are unparrelled. Lesley is lucky to have him!

Tony represents the best of Lesley University, and of Boston arts in general.
