STEM, without the T & E is just more science and math.

Technology education is essential to a meaningful STEM program. Technology classes give students the opportunity to use critical thinking skills to solve problems related to math and science. The hands on approach of technology education strengthens the connection between the student and the problem they are solving.

Students must have a foundation for STEM education. Technology is about more than digital equipment and or media. To create a foundation for STEM education students must learn, comprehend and acquire technological literacy. For middle school students this requires exposure to as many hands on problem solving opportunities as possible. This also requires a basic foundation for applied math and hand tool usage. Removing this curriculum from the Middle school level would put all our students in great peril and at a measurable disadvantage with all global learners. Tis will result in a major disadvantage when these students enter the global work force.

Middle school students to experience hands on use of tools and materials for their future.

When the rest of the world is pushing STEM education NY is looking to cut it. How about cutting world language or two regents in social study.

STEM & Project-Based learning courses are the buzz words of today, yet people would actually consider eliminating the very programs that engage students in hands-on learning opportunities.

There is no other more practical course then Technology Education!

Technology Education is an important component in STEM. Students need hands on learning that will transfer into a better future for our country. Please support Technology Education for our students in NYS.

We need more Tech Ed not less!

Tech Ed is needed as a Mandate at all levels of education. "Shop" classes were and always will be a great knowledge set of skills that don't stop being used throughout life.

Giving all students some basic skills associated with designing and building things opens up a lot of potential pathways for their future.

Nothing is more important than the hands on education provided by Technology Education. Other subject are just now seeing the benefits of how Technology teachers have been teaching over the past 30 years. Keep the mandates so that jobs requiring technological skills can be filled by qualified people.

Middle School Technology is the most hands class students have. It is the class that applies Math and Science skills. It is the glue of STEM. Students often say they learn the most and find Technology to be one of the most enjoyable courses.

We NEED technology education for our youth and college level students.

With manufacturing jobs in demand, the only logical action is to increase technology and practical applications of learning within schools.

Preserve the current state of the Technology Education New York State middle School Mandate. We should also adopt a commencement (9-12) level unit of credit made mandatory in all NYS high schools.

Technology is the practical application of Science and Math!

You can't have STEM without Technology!

Keep the students in their seats and keep testing, that must be the answer.

Technology Education offers hands on and critical thinking activities that apply Math and Science.

This makes no sense that a lack of skills based training at the MS level would improve the current needs of our society.
