STEM, without the T & E is just more science and math.

all our kids deserve and need more than ever a strong "hands on"technology education. this should be required for all students, not just the few that have shown an interest. maid available to all. my kids have had much difficulty in scheduling these courses being told : not available, or to many slots are taken etc.. enough is enough! fund it and make it mandatory for all schools to at least provide availability for all students to have access. thank you.

We said they shouldn't go completely with technology, forgetting those kids who are not academically inclined but are great with their hands and minds!

"Application " is often missing in math and science, It is the strength of technology and engineering !

Hands on laboratory experience should include the old fashioned crafts recently known by many in school as home economics and shop. School districts and NY State need to finance space and machines that expand manipulation with brain power. The replacement of these two traditional offerings with technology in the past thirty years is unfortunately just buying more computers and substituting digital technologists for Industrial Arts, Vocational course offerings.

How about some CTE, making sure students are career ready and not just career ready post college.

TECH ED has always been stem with the application of science, math, and technology to engineer solutions to problems

Please keep the middle school mandate for Technology Education! My students learn and enjoy all they do in middle school tech class.

Without Technology Education there would be no place to apply Math and Science!

With all of the Engineering mandates in the Next Gen Science Standards, it is imperative that we have certified, experienced Technology and Engineering teachers in every school.

This country MUST have a technologically competent workforce. It is NOT enough to know how to use technology. Understanding how it works gives wings to students imagination and creativity to their invention. In addition this Junior-Senior High school age students are developmentally ready for hands on learning and there is no more important time to help them demystify our world which is increasingly full of black boxes. Kids need Technology and it should continue to be required in the middle school level.

Technology Education is such a fundamentally important part of all students' education that the suggestion that it no longer ought to be required is beyond reason. Virtually every facet of society is evolving to be much more dependent on technology. We see it integrated into nearly every phase of our daily mundane existence. If the mandate needs to be changed, it would be far more sensible to increase it rather than weaken it.

Having the students spend more time in math class will not result in better scores. Some students need the hands on application to understand the concepts taught in math.

The Middle School Technology mandate is crucial to the development of young people.

Technology education should be a mandate in every high school across the state. This will provide students with the skills they will need to be a productive member of tomorrows workforce.

I just had a student in my room for CSE testing. He really struggles with math and reading but has over a 90 average in his metals class and truly excels at it!

The middle school mandate for technology education should be kept in place. As state ed talks about college AND CAREER ready Technology education is one of the few avenues left for that career piece. Taking that away would be a diservice for the children of NYS
