Support for MD 365 Affordable Housing Development at Manchester and Neighborhood

This housing is badly needed.

I don't know the definition for “Not keeping up your property”. We've owned our house for a long time and sometimes we let our grass get pretty long. ;0)

A very important initiative. We need to keep our MDI communities viable and address the several serious housing issues.

Absolutely in support of this effort!

This project is imperative for the health and survival of a year round community in Northeast Harbor. i want to live where I work, send my children to schools where I work, encounter neighbors in the post office, walk along Main Street year round and greet people who live and work and care about how we care for each other, this land, and our daily year round life in NEH. The health of the public school system, the vitality of main street, and the local economy suffer from a housing shortage. Increasing the stock of homes for winter residents is imperative for the survival of the community.

Our town and island is not sustainable on its current path. Everyone needs to think beyond the short term and plan for the future beyond themselves.

A healthy community makes room for a well balanced group of people and businesses of variety.

I fully support creating accessible year round housing in our small community!

This isn't just about a place to house workers (though of course that's part of it), it's also about supporting a healthy, year-round community.

We haver got to ignore the not in my backyard mentality of NEH and build affordable housing

The petition against this housing initiative states: "Owners will have little incentive to maintain the units and no opportunity for any increase in the value of their property." I find this language offensive and a total misrepresentation of fact. All condominiums are governed by bylaws and managed by a condo board which has duties and obligations to the owners to maintain the common areas as required by state and local ordinances. There is no reason to believe that these properties will not increase in value over time, or that they will negatively impact on the adjacent neighbors, as implied in the opposing petition.

At a town listening session in Somesville recently, lack of affordable housing to support a year-round workforce was one of the top two concerns of the citizens present.

We need this! Our first responders can no longer afford to live on this island!

NEH residents should be glad that MD365 is helping to solve the need for affordable housing for year round families.

I fully support work force housing in North East harbor. We absolutely must have affordable housing options in our town. Hard working folks to work in our schools ,fire department,hotels ,restaurants, coffee shops , and ect. I live at 25 Millbrook rd.

Of course we need more year round housing. We’re desperate for people to work on the island, especially in restaurants and stores.

Working people need a place to live on MDI. Most of those who do the work of keeping MDI afloat (teachers, nurses, service workers, town employees… ) can’t afford to live here anymore.
