Support for MATA amending the Practice Act in relation to licensure of athletic trainers

I believe that Maryland athletic trainers should be afforded the same right and ability as other MBP licensed allied health professionals to provide healthcare services to the states’ citizens regardless of the type or setting. For to continue to deny us the ability to provide services for which we are educated and trained, is denying us the right to practice and be gainfully employed in our own state of residence and as taxpayers. Our unique education and skills would greatly relieve the shortage of healthcare service providers for the citizens of the great state of Maryland!

Athletic Trainers are a "jack of all trade" without the recognition. It would be wonderful to see Maryland truly appreciate what Athletic Trainers have to offer a small population but a larger one where all can work together for the greater good of taking care an individual. It is time to stand on the same ground as other NATA are across the state and not take away this passion from them.

This is necessary to remain competative as does our comtemporaries.

You're doing a disservice to your constituents by not allowing them to have access to these highly skilled and educated healthcare professionals.

As a early proponent for regulation of the Athletic Training profession in Maryland I urge you to pass this legislation and lift the restrictions on the regulations on Athletic Trainers. It makes no sense to continue these restrictions. Other healthcare professional are not limited to patient populations. Athletic Trainers must practice under physician direction. That is what protects the patient. Move Maryland to the forefront of better patient healthcare access. Thank you

The removal of the restrictions placed on athletic trainers in the state of MD is long overdue. Other licensed healthcare providers are not limited in their choice of work place or patient population. It is imperative that Maryland modernize its laws surrounding athletic training and allow these dedicated professionals to treat all active patient populations.

Athletic trainers treat patients, not athletes. These patients range from youth athletes to professionals in their fields, such as the military, performing arts, public safety, and industrial work. We can’t treat our patients if our practice act will only let us treat “athletes”. Please support this petition.
