This trail is very important to the residents on the south side of town. It will make walking and biking Geyser Rd. a much safer place. It will also help the people walking to SPAC for concerts who are presently walking on the side of the road while cars and trucks pass by them. This trail will provide a afe route to school as well as a safe route to downtown Saratoga.

This trail will provide a safe pathway from Milton to the State Park for Geyser Crest. So many bikers and walkers are on the side of the road now and it's not safe. Also, this will provide a sense of community and link us to Saratoga Springs downtown and the State Park.

It is imperative for those of us living in the SW neighborhood to have safe and accessible options for walking, biking, and other activities linking us to rest of the community. SAFELY connecting residential neighborhoods to schools and parks through trails and greenways enhances the quality of life for ALL residents of ALL (not just those in the SW community). The benefits to the community are simply too significant to not move forward with the project as planned.

Every day I drive on Geyser Rd. Every day I drive past a pedestrian walking or riding a bike over the railroad tracks. I am shocked that no one has been hit by a car. It would be a huge improvement to this community to have a safe way to get to the park from our homes. I would love to feel safe riding a bike with my family to the park. There is a great need for this trail.

It would increase quality of life, take cars off the road and provide a much greater level of safety for those of us that actually enjoy getting around on foot and by bicycle. Having had a little bit to do with the germination of the idea of a Geyser Road trail back in 2003, I wish to add my comments that the Geyser Road trail connects people -- people who live in the southwest neighborhood, extending along Geyser Road from Rowland Street to Route 50, mostly part of Saratoga Springs, along with the western end as part of the Town of Milton; probably 1000 children reside there, many of whom would be more integrated into Saratoga Springs, the High School, the YMCA, the state park and downtown if they had a way to transport without automobile transportation. We've already provided trails from the state park at the Avenue of Pines and Route 50 into downtown; what is missing for the Southwest community is a means for young (and mature) people to enter that existing safety zone from the southwest, without occupying the same lane as vehicular traffic. This trail separates, on the one hand, bicycle and pedestrian movement from, on the other hand, cars and trucks by establishing a path along the northern shoulder of the east-west Geyser Road which will be widened (as the bridge over the railroad has already been widened during a County replacement project) to accommodate a safer means of movement than currently exists. Over the decades our roads have become high-speed conveyances that often separate communities into islands with little ability to connect, other than by motorized vehicles. The goal of any modern transportation system should be to create multimodal means of transit including pedestrian and bicycle traffic which is PEOPLE to people, encourages health and provides access to those not using vehicles. All citizens, businesses and government leaders should support the Geyser Road trail as it accomplishes these goals.
