Why a school which will reopen in a few months? There are larger, open spaces available which actually have a chance of working.

Choosing a school with limited space in the center of a residential neighborhood that might re-open in a couple of months is just not a good option.
Moreover, the ONLY way residents should agree to something like this, is if it is coupled with a clear written plan and commitment from the SFPD, DA and Supervisor that having this site will enable them to do what they've failed to do for years: Use the force of law to limit homeless camping to the safe sleeping site and remove large encampments that show up throughout the neighborhood.

This is not an enviable commitment to this petition, nor the task set forth to the City leadership to resolve the issue of SF homeless. I trust there are potential other solutions that are longer lived and future forward, resolute, progressive solution.

Between the recent arson, violent threats, and general petty crime, an encampment in this neighborhood is too much of a threat to public safety.

I walk by this school often and know that homeless encampments have been a constant issue for years. A school is no place for a homeless shelter. The health and safety of children and others in the area should take priority.

My grand daughter attends Everett. Even if the school reopens and the shelter is closed, there will still be people from the shelter hanging out there. Not safe for the kids!

I have lived in this neighborhood for the better part of 25 years. It has never been so unsafe and blighted as it is now and getting worse with each passing year. This is not the right place for this experiment, which will do absolutely nothing to help with the pandemic. Please don't proceed with this plan!
