Oppose Everett Middle School as Authorized Encampment

Do not use public schools for unhoused adults! Children need use of their school’s playground. Parks closed. School playgrounds opened but not for children?

My daughter lives in 16th and Dehon. She fears taking out her trash since there’s encampments in Dehon with trash and human waste. SSS at Everett is too short of a period to help the situation. At the end of July the encampments will be back directly outside Everett in greater numbers. Will 24/7 staffing help control the surrounding neighborhood after July? I’m against this for such a short time.

Instead of creating a temporary solution for less than two months, financed and cleaned up by our tax dollars, the city should look for a more permanent place for the homeless camp.

Totally agree! Not in a residential area. There’re other sites that won’t compromise our health and safety.

My outdoor area looks out over this site. I’m worried about it becoming an eyesore and I’m very concerned about noise.

This will not clear the streets. This will just increase the homeless population in an already densely populated area

As a resident at 370 Church Street, the crime and safety has deteriorated to the point where the inmates are in control of the asylum. We are not safe in our homes and certainly out in the neighborhood after dark. The police don't respond and City simply doesn't seem to care. To bring more vandals in to our neighborhood and near schools creates more danger for us all.

Why only 5 staff supplied for the Everett camp? two people in 50 tents is avg., thats 100 people with 5 people to 'supervise' - can they supervise the crowd? Not with late comers and the usual level of aggression seen of others ... Nah. Will I get a property tax break for the personal costs to me of being assaulted and told to 'eff off'? City Supervisors should camp down in the same place and see how that goes? Great tv story that would be!

The homeless are destroying a school because the city won't act. This is not how you protect children.

No- as a neighborhood resident, I was hoping something might change to make us feel safer walking the dog after dark. This most definitely ain’t it.

No, no, no. Don't let the homeless problem, which has already literally taken over our city, take over the neighborhood in and around Everett Middle School. If you live in this neighborhood as I do, you should be aware that the homeless have already invaded our neighborhoods, giving no care to the filth, garbage, and mess they leave behind. You can't walk a block without running into huge encampments taking over entire sidewalks with piles of garbage and crap. It's got to stop and opening up Everette as a place for a homeless tent city is ABSOLUTELY OUTRAGEOUS. Both the Mayor and Supervisor Mandelman will lose my vote if this allowed to go through.

I originally was supportive but thr Supervisor doesn't respond to my emails asking for more info. There is no plan to provide a space when the site reaches capacity. There is no plan to provide a space for these people when school resumes. There is no plan to mitigate noise. You think the problem magically disappeara when school resumes? Nope. It means even more homeless in the area than ever before. Ask LA and Seattle what happened when they said "let's just try this."

Live right across. Our property has been thrashed and vandalized twice.

Please find a more permanent solution to this issue, perhaps not a school in a residential area where kids might be returning too shortly.

I say no to the use of Everett Middle school to house the homeless. These folks should be moved to a larger facility outside of a residential area. Perhaps utilize the old Candelstick park, Cow Palace or an area that will be easy to clear once area is deemed to be closed. A school is not a good choice!

Please put our children, our future, and teachers and staff, as priorities. It is not an acceptable idea to mix the unhomed with schools and students until all contingencies are resolved. And safety cleaning and distancing are always an issue with homeless encampments.
