Dr. Rendell stepped into very tough conditions when he became superintendent, which is why he was hired in the first place. He has done a marvelous job of turning this county’s schools around, despite constant opposition from the board. This year, it’s worse than ever. Dr. Rendell has remained professional and helpful, continuing to put the best interest of the students and teachers first. I support Dr. Rendell whole-heartedly. Thanks for the great job you do every day.

Dr. Rendell is an upstanding, admirable Rotarian. Let the school board try to replace him...Good luck with that. This is a fine man.

Dr. Rendell is a good man that is currently under attack by his own school board for trying to clean things up. Laura Zorc is behind most all of this drama. She conspires outside of school board meetings with her personal friend she was able to get elected, Jacqueline Rosario. It is very obvious when Rosario peddles Zorcs agenda front and center in the school board meetings. The corruption within our county needs to end, and the conspiring framers on our very own school board is a good place to start.

A parent of two SDIRC students (class of 2018 and class of 2019) and 25-year resident of IRC. In the business world, if any high-level employee retains legal counsel and notifies their employer that they've put their resume out to market and are actively applying for new employment, it would be incumbent upon the board of directors to take immediate action to initiate the search for a replacement. Additionally, if a CEO of a 300-million-dollar operation ever allowed their company to go without a CFO for nearly a year, the board would demand that the CEO step down. When Dr. Rendell informed the board the day before their 3/26/19 board meeting that he had retained legal counsel and was seeking employment elsewhere, Chairman Laura Zorc made the right decision in asking him to tender his resignation date. Otherwise, Dr. Rendell, not the board, has control of the situation. How could we expect to attract quality candidates for a superintendent position that’s not vacant? She was also right to point out that Dr. Rendell can leave our school district stranded with 30 days’ notice. What if without his tendered resignation, Dr. Rendell informed the school board of accepting employment elsewhere in late June, without the board having searched for his replacement? Our county would be facing the possibility of going into the 2019-20 academic year without a CEO and a CFO with a potentially dysfunctional, “novice” board. In the best interest of SDIRC, the board need to demand Dr. Rendell’s resignation date as Ms. Zorc requested in order to protect our best interests. Furthermore, Mrs. Zorc is correct that our school district has a narrow window of time to find qualified candidates to replace Dr. Rendell. She was right in stating that if we wait until May/June, our only superintendent candidates will be those who have been rejected or underqualified. Let’s not forget that Dr. Rendell was an Alachua County School District superintendent candidate REJECT in 2014, just pri

I stand behind Mark 100%. Through my personal experiences with him, he has helped build relationships and opened doors for the Crossover Mission Organization and our youth that seemed nearly impossible prior to him taking office. We can now better serve our youth, share information with their families, as well as has have access and support of many schools and facilities. He has also stood strong in collaborating with the community and I personally feel that his effort to bring forth change to a situation that was already in shambles, prior to his taking office, has been unappreciated and overlooked by many. I may not know all of the details of the entire situation but I do know that the time that I have known and worked with him, he's been nothing short of stellar and always available.

this is just absolutely infuriating for someone to put such a nice man down like this.. think about your kids & your professions and put your biased opinions aside. Dr. Rendell has been one of the best things this community has had the opportunity to experience. Stand by him and fight for him!!!

i’m a kid i was raised not to be in the drama, be kind and respectful, and not to treat anyone the way i wouldn’t want to be treated. so all these adults saying disrespectful things about a man you don’t even know need to check their self, and set an example for their kids and others- and QUIT with the drama. dr. rendell is a good person and i know all the people calling him and others out could not do his job and deal with all the criticism and disrespect. he has done too much good for this county for some childish, immature, PETTY grown adults to come and think they can get rid of him while more people are standing by him- he does his job for us, the kids. that should be enough for you people to want us kids have a positive role model and have a man who actually cares about us in charge.
