As a JMU alum, I am horrified at the idea that this public university would ignore the need for diversity training and to support marginalized students, faculty and staff.

Further example of the propagation of pervasive white supremacy. The university is turn a blind eye to POC and marginalize people. Shame on you. You had the opportunity to open the dialogue but chose to shut the conversation down.

JMU has been and likely continues to this day to be a privileged closed-off community. Conversations like that training wake student employees up to the needs and realities of life for many incoming JMU students - particularly those who don't look like them.

Please continue this training- JMU shouldn't tout diversity as one of its values if they don't follow through on their promises. It's disappointing and hurtful to not prioritize creating a safer more understanding environment for all of their students. This training should be important. Class '20

JMU needs to continue to push discussion in difficult areas. One of the most important areas when moving into difficult discussion is to support the very staff and students who are creating resources for the discussion.

As a parent of two students I am beyond outraged that the school would cancel long overdue a much needed diversity training. Wake up and do the right thing. Train accurately and evidence-based.
