The extra fee for aquasize classes should be eliminated. Paying for each class starts to add up significantly, especially for senior citizens. Water exercise is easier on your joints and allows people with arthritis to exercise. Water exercise is good for a person's health.

Because of the fee as a resident it is unnecessary for me to join the center since I would have to pay either way. Prior to moving to Hershey, I lived in Ephrata. There the center offered an Aqua pass for non-members, however, there were many more choices for water aerobics during the week especially during the evening and weekend.

Hershey is a wealthy town with a global business at its center. It is unacceptable to rationalize charging middle aged to elderly individuals when they already pay a membership fee. You'd think they're trying to deter swimmers from coming. There's more than enough money to cover these costs.

I am a member of the community center that uses the pool for deep-water aquatics classes. If I went to every deep pool class that was offered (2 times per week), it would be an additional $40 to $45 per month on top of the membership fees I pay for my family. If I went to every deep-water class, I would be paying an additional $500 per year. It's tough enough to swing the regular membership, especially since I’m not a Derry Township resident and already pay more for my membership. I take these classes in part because they are easier on my joints, a reason many people do water classes. It’s not acceptable to penalize members who want to take the aquatics classes and to discriminate against those that cannot afford the additional fees. I urge you to remove the additional fee for these classes and make them more accessible to anyone who wants to take them.

Aquacise makes group exercise accessible to many people with physical disabilities who are unable to participate in other group exercise classes. It is discriminatory to require this population to pay for group exercises when other group exercise classes do not have a fee. I have had a family membership for a year, but there is little programming for my school aged children. Aquacise is one of the few programs that I am able to participate in. I don't foresee renewing my membership without more programming for my kids and/or free access to one of the few activities that I have participated in at the community center.

I LOVE Aquasize, and Jackie Sisco is a phenomenal teacher. I am really disappointed in DTCC for charging extra for this class to members who are already paying to be there, when the fee is not subsidizing the instructor. This is not an appropriate way to offset costs, and is taking advantage of a disadvantaged population. Do better.

My insurance dropped silver sneakers so I have been re-evaluating joining. I attended the acqucize on a regular basis, but the cost of dues PLUS the cost of class, makes this very expensive for a senior citizen. Does every group using the pool pay for extra for that privilege, including people who want to swim laps? I did try a spin class when I was attending. I didn't need to pay an extra fee, and I'm sure that you had to purchase the equipment and have to maintain it as well.

These classes should be a part of a membership. There are many other rec center classes that are included with a membership. I may consider joining the rec center if I could receive these classes as part of my expensive membership.

I am also a silver sneakers member. I shouldn't have to keep paying everytime I want to go to class. Just think, If this class was offered everyday of the week and you attended each one of those classes. That would get pretty expensive for retirees.

Membership to Derry Twp. Recreation Center should entitle me to Aquacise Class at no additional charge. If I were to attend 4 classes each week, at an additional $5/ class, that would add $1040 time my (already paid for) membership cost! In charging for these classes, you are discriminating against a particular group. This not equitable in regard to members! Please discontinue this charge.

Charging an additional fee (besides the membership fee) is not only cost prohibitive ($80 additional each month if you take class on two days a week=$960 additional cost), it is discriminatory (all of us are female senior citizens).

I use the Aquacise classes for medical reasons and at the urge of my physician. I began this program at the beginning of the summer under Silver Sneakers. Shortly after starting, I was advised that the Rec Center was no longer accepting Silver Sneakers because the Rec Center was losing money on that program and to continue I would need to purchase a membership for $400. Paying $5 for each class adds insult to injury. As a senior, the pool and Aquacise classes are where my time is spent. Do not misunderstand, I am very grateful for the Leisure Pool and the opportunities it affords, and I would like to think we are not the first thing that is financially threatened. The Leisure Pool is also the first pool that is closed as the result of a lack of life guards. This is an area that needs to be addressed. It is very sad to come to the Rec Center ready to swim only to find the pool is closed. Thank you.

I hope that Derry Township will be able to offer these classes for no fee. If you attend all the classes each month, it would cost us $80/month which equals $960 a year. This is too pricey for most retirees on top of the membership fee -
