Support community-based services for individuals with developmental disabilities

Our adult son who has developmental disabilities has had a full life because of supported living. After an inferior experience in a large group home, he now lives a successful rich life in an apartment with support from helpers. Funds for regional support to community-based programs MUST continue!

We desperately need funding to help support over 700 individuals with disabilities. Their future's are in jeopardy!!!!!

The funds that are currently allocated for developmental centers should remain in the community based services system that so desperately needs it!

Without the Lanterman Act, people would be shunned and kept at home again. It is everyone's right to be part of their community and enjoy life in their community. People need to be treated as "people" and not as things/numbers/ statistics...

Please save our system!!!!

The true measure of a society or government is how we take care of those who through no fault of their own have come to need our support. If we want to show the world America is a good society if we want to make America great again let us start by taking care of our own,

I support community based services, if you needed this level of support you would want to be treated with dignity. This dignity comes at a cost, the money from the closure of the DC's should be funneled into community based support agencies. Thank you for your time,

Monies from the closing of Developmemtal Centers should stay in a budget for Community Based Services. It is the right thing to do.

This is really sad when we have to keep fighting for our clients with disabilities rights​ to keep their deserve Right to have service to be independent

The money saved by closing the developmental centers will still be needed to provide services for the individuals who formerly resided there. The money saved needs to go back into funding community based services for these and other developmentally disabled individuals served by the Lanterman Act.

The DC system was developed in the late 1800s as a safety net for the Developmentally Disabled the community now is serving that purpose, keep the funding for the I/DD as it was intended.

We fought very hard for this and we need to preserve. Our daughter is now 28 and was fully included in a very good school district in Northern California. Several of her classmates have gone into helping professions. They say it's a direct result having our daughter in class with her.

Developmental centers are a vital tool for parents and caregivers of the developmentally disabled, many of whom need life long care or guidance:
