Psychologists, Mental Health Providers & General Public Support of RxP for Psychologists

I fully support this bill!

I am a licensed psychologist in Colorado and have a MS in Clinical Psychopharmacology that makes me eligible to prescribe if this bill is passed. I urge legislators to allow psychologists such as myself to provide the people of Colorado the services they need.

RxP for trained psychologists will greatly improve mental health treatment access.

Psychologists with additional and specialized training to prescribe is a huge step to address issues of access to care. I strongly encourage Colorado to pass this important bill.

As a geropsychologist, the ability to prescribe psychiatric medications for older adult clients would be incredibly impactful as this population has a dearth of geriatric-trained psychiatrists treating older adults.

Consumers are in desperate need of psychiatric services, psychologists are highly trained these psychologists will have extensive additional training at or exceeding the training of nurse practitioners, PAs, and others regarding mental health medications

Qualified Licensed Psychologists are needed in the area of prescription authority. Such changes will advance Health Services across the nation, improve patient outcomes and alleviate some of the strain on existing health systems. Psychologists spend an extensive number of hours on in-person patient care compared to existing prescribing health professionals. Our contact is more expansive and personal. This does not diminish the role, expertise or necessity of other professionals and their craft. However, we would have the same understanding, once trained, as to the medicinal need of the patient and perhaps greater due to our longer sessions, clinical interviewing and length of time the patient remains our client under our direct care. I have been a prescribing pediatric psychologist for 15 years in Louisiana and have proudly done so safely and effectively. Please address the national prescriber shortage now by supporting this badly needed bill!
