We need psychologist to have prescription privileges

Access to medication management for Coloradoans with mental health challenges is a major barrier to wellness in our state.

With the US in a mental health crisis and our service men and woman committing suicide at such and alarming rate this would give patients more access to the much needed services to include our mental healthcare system a better more effective/efficient way to treat patients. I applaud this effort and it should be allowed.

As a Colorado-licensed psychologist and psychologist with a postdoctoral MS in clinical psychopharmacology, I fully support expanding access to sorely-needed mental health services for patients.

I am a psychologist-prescriber in Louisiana; please support Colorado citizens who need increased access to psychopharmacology services for their mental health needs.

I am a Colorado licensed psychologist who would be immediately available to start pharmacotherapy for patients in Colorado, as I also have been licensed as a prescribing psychologist in New Mexico for 12 years. There are several of us who would be immediately able to provide workforce for the underserved in Colorado. I received the Major Caraveo National Service Award in 2018 for my serving the underserved in New Mexico with medication management, and would love to serve the underserved in Colorado, my home state.

I am a NM Prescribing Psychologist safely caring for NM’s most vulnerable for 15 years.

I strongly urge you to pass this bill. Appropriately trained psychologists have a long track record of safe practice. The residents of Colorado deserve as much access to the best mental health care possible. This bill will help Colorado residents receive such care.

This bill is long overdue!

I have been a prescribing psychologist in the Air Force since 2006 without an unsafe incident. Other providers respected my training and patient care without exception, and the question of safe practice was never raised. With this authority, I was able to treat my patients in a more comprehensive manner which sped healing and freed up other resources for other patients. The arguments against this bill are unfounded and not supported by the years of safe practice my colleagues and I have provided for over 20 years. I urge you to pass this bill.

RxP is a win-win. It provides more accessible, safe, high quality mental health care at no additional cost to the public. For 30 years, psychologists have proven that they can prescribe safely and effectively.

I also think this should be open to not only psychologists but other licensed mental health professionals
