To: The Board of Trustees From: CCSF Students To Whom It May Concern: We the students are asking the Board of Trustees to reconsider the closing of any of the CCSF campuses. It is essential that we have schools all over San Francisco. Each campus offers a variety of classes, such as non-credit ESL English classes Level 1-9, citizenship classes, computer courses , and vocational courses such as culinary and clerical training, and fashion, just to name a few. These classes will help students better their lives and be a part of the community and eventually find jobs to support themselves and their families. Think of how many students it will impact if you plan to shut down a neighborhood campus and force the students to attend the Chinatown Campus. Some of the students with disabilities will face challenges to get to Chinatown because of the roads and hills. It will be overwhelming for the instructors to teach, and students will not get the attention they so desperately need. We are asking the Board to please reconsider the closing of different campuses anywhere in San Francisco. Please save our schools because we believe that education is the key to success. Help keep CCSF campuses in the community! Thank you. Sincerely Yours, The Students of City College of San Francisco

Updates

July 8, 2012

The current level of engagement has secured us a formal meeting with two members of the Board of Trustees. We are finalizing our proposal to highlight the logistical impact of these closures before that discussion occurs.

My mom takes her esl classes here and she loves it. closing these centers just makes life harder for people who are actually trying to work and learn.

I did my vocational training at one of these sites. changing the location would have made it impossible for me to finish. dont shut them down.

the hills in this city are hard enough for seniors without adding travel stress. leave the campuses where they are.

This is ridiculous. sf is already expensive enough without making people commute across the whole city just for a basic class.
