The entire agricultural industry is at risk! This dynamic industry has been totally decimated in other countries when the focus shifted from supporting high quality local agribusinesses to an economic one based on the centrist logic of who can supply our food products/components at the lowest possible price. Do we as consumers know if the animals that produced the imported milk and eggs are treated ethically and humanely? Will consumers be eating dairy products that are contaminated with pesticides, herbicides, or environmental toxins? Our agricultural sectors are huge economic drivers and form the backbone of many rural communities across our nation. Let us as Canadians honour and protect our food sovereignty by saying no to foreign corporations seeking to flood our local markets!

To suggest that eliminating supply management will reduce consumer prices for dairy and poultry products is economic theory that is not rooted in the reality of monopolistic processing and retail sectors. Canadians enjoy the highest quality dairy and poultry products at very competitive retail prices. Once the local farms are gone, retail prices are certain to increase well beyond current levels. Take a look at the long term trend lines for retail vs farm gate prices for pork and beef and you will see what I mean!

We support the existing milk quota system. We strongly encourage the current government to support our existing quota system and NOT to give it up in any trade agreement!!!
