Supply Management works because participants in the industry do not need government bailouts during a bust cycle. Other sectors are on a boom and bust cycle where the public pays to support industry participants in the bust part of the cycle through government support payments and also pay through higher food prices during the boom cycle.

Canada needs supply management in the dairy industry to insure superior quality in Canadian dairy products.

Canadian Dairy Farmers are part of the Canadian Communities. They devote their working lives producing high quality milk, in a way that respects both the environment and the welfare of the animals in their care. An financially stable dairy farm is an economic driver for the community it is based in. Please speak out in defense of supply management, long term Canadian Food Security depends on it.

We emigrated to canada in 1990. Since then the Milk Marketing Board has gone, prices have reduced sharply and thousands of dairy farmers have gone out of businees because of the low price of milk. Imports have flooded the market and British dairy farmers have had a job to compete. It is very important for everyone to support our dairy farmers in Canada.

I've always felt safe buying Canadian dairy products and I look for the Canadian symbol on ice cream so that I know that it is safe as well. I think it would be a big mistake to flood stores with foreign dairy products - we have our own Canadian dairy industry to supply us - who exactly is benefiting from allowing in foreign sources that can undercut Canadian business by having lower standards?
