Please support this eatery trying to create 'normal' experiences for people diagnosed with Coeliac Disease. A truly disruptive and depressing disease which exposes sufferers to possible intestinal damage at every meal out not in a venue like Cafe Henkel.

I believe this cafe offers something rare and exciting for people with Coeliac Disease and patrons and Council should support this wonderful initiative.

I sincerely hope the Moreland Council comes to it’s collective senses and approves Cafe Henkel’s applications in a timely manner. What can the Council possibly gain by driving a much needed cafe out of business through needless bureaucracy!

It is so nice for people with Coeliac Disease to be able to go out to a cafe a feel normal, be able to order anything on the menu without asking 100 questions to ensure they don’t get sick.

I launched Australias first fully gluten and cereal grain free cafe and catering biz in 2010. Our local Council, tourism operators and community fully embraced our vision and concept. Council provided fantastic support. Showing their ability to be agile and flexible. Working with us to expand operations next door. Result. Lots of Australian and world firsts, media for the region, biz awards, best selling author and loads of employment. Their support helped the biz expand into manufacturing. Get out of the way of innovative businesses, support and lift them. The result, Council, is something worth celebrating.

As a coeliac, it is wonderful to have somewhere to go where you can not have to worry about contamination and actually finding something on the menu (many cafes say they have gluten free but often that means a biscuit). For coeliacs to know they could even hold a birthday party, etc., it is wonderful. Please quickly give permission for these people to keep their business alive. This country needs people like these to keep the economy going and it is ridiculous that Council red-tape makes it nearly impossible.

As a rate payer of Moreland Council I ask that you take this matter more seriously than you have up to this time and approve the application for Cafe Henkel ASAP. People with Coeliac Disease can easily become socially isolated without venues like this where they are able to eat out in a food safe environment. Thank-you. Julie Ellis
Please support Cafe Henkel to stay in business
