Last month the Caddo Parish Transportation Department released a new wage schedule for its bus drivers. Shockingly, the new compensation schedule for extra work will cut driver's pay by more than half!
Drivers and their professional association, Red River United, were not afforded the opportunity to address these policy changes before the Caddo Parish School Board. Why? Because there wasn't a hearing.
Drivers are upset about the drastic cut in pay but they are more upset about being cut out of the process. Revamping the Caddo Parish Transportation Department requires the input of DRIVERS, TEACHERS (trips and tutoring), COACHES (athletics) and PARENTS (drop off & pick ups). Everyone has a stake in a successful transportation department.
If you are concerned about the stability of transportation in the public school system we urge you to sign this petition.

My wife drives for the district and this is a total slap in the face. They work hard enough as it is without some board member deciding to slash their pay behind closed doors.

Ridiculous!! These drivers are keeping our kids safe every single day. They deserve way better than this.
