New York State Assembly Bill A380 is a proposed policy that would affect insurance laws that relate to certain out of home services such as transition from a hospital, nursing facility or other institutional setting to the home within home care insurance coverage. The purpose of the policy is to update and modernize the insurance laws involved in the transition to home care. The bill is currently sponsored by Kevin A. Cahill, the head chairman of the NYS Insurance Committee, but needs help from the public to progress past the committee floor.

The bill would synchronize health care coverage to reflect the newest models and innovations of care in the modern health care system, promote cost-savings and efficiency, and benefit covered individuals.

This bill is important for all providers of home health care including occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, and nursing, as well as those who work with New York State insurance policies including Medicaid and Medicare. This bill would most importantly benefit covered individuals and help them receive the care they need during and after a transition from a health care facility. By signing this petition, you will help demonstrate public interest in this bill and help it move from the Assembly to the Senate, where it would become New York State law.
