Urgent: The bill to license Orientation & Mobility Specialists and Vision Rehabilitation Specialists must be attained this year. ALL major obstacles that once concerned Assembly Member Glick have been overcome. The time to act is now! Please sign this petition to the New York State Assembly showing your support. Dear Assembly Speaker Silver and all Assembly Members: The constituents of the State of New York with visual impairments are entitled to independent and safe travel training by licensed Orientation & Mobility Specialists. All New Yorkers with visual impairments must have access to appropriate vision rehabilitation therapy services to keep them independent in their homes and community. The population of older adults in New York State with age related and health related visual impairments is increasing at an alarming rate. They need qualified Orientation & Mobility Specialists and Vision Rehabilitation Therapists that can only be achieved through the standardization of care upheld through state licensure. Please place bill # A.6179 (Lupardo) “An act to amend the education law, in relation to the licensing of orientation and mobility specialists and rehabilitation therapists” on the Higher Education Committee agenda for a vote. Please vote “YES” on this bill. Speaker Silver e-mail: [email protected] Assembly Member Glick e-mail: [email protected]
