Support Argun Stationers against unlawful lease termination

We love Argun. A stalwart of the local community.

We run a business and also live in Hackney Central. We support Argun, a friendly and helpful local business. We want a Hackney Central where businesses like this can thrive. Perhaps if the other location is so great the landlord can invest some money in that site - which I assume is the failed fashion village project which also displaced previous tenants, now only to sit empty for years. Note those big businesses all left during COVID when the market was unfavourable, whilst local businesses like Argun weathered the storm and no doubt at huge financial cost. Hackney Central is about to under go a huge change with the Tesco development, etc and businesses like Argun need to be supported, as they give value to the community. I really hope there is a happy ending, I'll be following along closely.

Wonderful shop!

I have been visiting this shop since childhood, and recently returning reminded me how deeply it is woven into our high street and community. The thought of it being taken away is devastating. This shop has long been a cornerstone of our neighbourhood, and the early termination of its lease is a real injustice, one that serves only the interests of large corporations at the expense of local businesses and community heritage

I've treasured argun for 25 years for stationary and printing for my business and several voluntary organisations. They are always so friendly and helpful. We don't need more bars, we need useful services like argun provide to local people and businesses.

The best shop in Hackney Central. No more vape shops, coffee shops, pound shops needed.

Like many other hackney citizens I work from home - writer. I have been a customer for 14 years . . . Argun is invaluable service not just for me but for others I know in the community. We do not need more bars ! Hackney Council should intervene now, stop this is its tracks and refuse to condone the behaviour of the landlord, somewhat threatening.

We don't need more bars/restaurants etc in central Hackney. Argun offers useful services. Why should Hackney be up for grabs and exploitation to maximise profit, with no regard for what is useful to residents and small businesses that have worked many years to gain their good reputation.

This is unfair for the lease to be broken, and we really need this great shop in our community.

Great shop and very much part of Hackney Central. I don’t believe it conflicts with the bar / social area that Hackney plan to develop.

This is a vital store for the community we need it.

I've been a customer since school. Argun is one of the few independent shops catering to the whole community selling products and services that aid wider productivity in the local economy. The suggestion by the landlord that they should move to the dead space that is the "fashion hub" and vacate their premises for more hospitality businesses that will be highly likely to fail within the first year or two of trading is not going to help create a vibrant and economically successful high street. Surely the Council don't want the legacy of the ongoing regeneration of Hackney Central to be the creation of a less diverse retail offer and more inevitable empty premises if concentrating solely on hospitality?
