Protecting the oceans and its sea-life is so important for our human lives as well. If we don't encourage steps in the right direction, it may be too late - then, we'll wish that we had. Now is the time to stand up for this precious and vital ecosystem for all of life before it's gone for good.

I feel MPA's have inherent positives and can contribute constructively to the health of the environment and society. However there are many inequities and problems associated with MPAs and their use/management and implementation in South Africa. I feel MPA's can and should be reviewed and look to beter serve for and by the a more representative group of the population

The oceans are the source of all life on earth. However, not only are we exploiting the oceans at a rate that is no longer sustainable, we are also polluting them to such an extent that their decline could soon be irreversible. By creating marine protected areas, both these deadly developments can be curtailed. The government must not falter in its efforts to create 22 new MPAs. Protect our precious oceans!

Hi Tyron
Thanks for the support. The 22 new MPAs were gazetted in Government Gazette No. 39646. The comment period is open, so you can read all the details of where they are etc. in that gazette and send your input directly to govt. as a comment. https://www.greengazette.co.za/documents/regulation-gazette-39646-of-03-february-2016-vol-608-no-10553_20160203-GGR-39646.pdf
Regards, Eleanor
