A lot of OAP's use the Waitrose store in the town centre because it's very convenient for the Buses
and for other shops in Hertford. We do not need another large out of town Supermarket, and not everyone has a car.

Out of town supermarkets are no longer the trend. Building on Green Belt is inappropriate. Carbon footprint is increased. So many people rely on in town shopping and Waitrose is currently so well placed for people who are reliant on buses. It is also undercover. I think the loss of Waitrose will have an effect on Hertford town centre with ramifications far beyond food shopping. Other traders will suffer.
I have been hugely loyal to Waitrose.
I was not in favour of the Tesco development; I opposed the Sainsbury development on the grounds that at some point one of the Hertford supermarkets would leave.
What more can I say.....except I am very disappointed with the planning process/decision which has left the town so exposed

The majority of people who live, work and play in Hertford do not want to see waitrose leaving the town and opose the move to van hages. Hertford loves waitrose

Hertford town centre needs to be nurtured and the local businesses need to be encouraged to stay. This decision would have such a negative impact on the town, what is the point of it other than to line the pockets of the landowners and developers?

This is not a development that anyone (apart from the developers) wants. It would have adverse effects on the rural environment and would be very bad for Hertford.

This site is in a rural location and a large supermarket is out of keeping with the surrounding area.

Who in our area actually wants this development to go ahead? I wish I could find someone but I cannot. This decision does not seem to reflect public opinion.

This decision will have multiple effects; the death of Hertford town centre, traffic problems for Ware (which already has a new supermarket), and an attack on the Green Belt. Town centres need regeneration not competition from 'out of towners'. I haven't met a single person who has approved of this decision. Not one!

Tesco is 1 mile, Asda is 1.9miles, Co-Op 1.5miles, Morrisons 2.3 Miles, Aldi 2.5miles, Sainsburys 2.7miles, 3.5 miles all from Van Hagues do we really need another one. Too be honest its a bit out of the way so can only really see folks from Amwell using it. Spolit for choice DONT NEED TO RUIN the area with another concreate jungle, put it to better use

There are approximately 6 or 7 supermarkets about 5 - 10 minutes drive, it is unnecessary to build on greenfield site.
