This decision by an outgoing planning committee most of whom are no longer serving on that committee was totally perverse! It went against its officers' recommendation and advice, was against its own authority's development plan and policy as well as being against the National Policy Framework!

It will be no good for the centre of Hertford if Waitrose moves out. Please re-think the decision.

I fear for our town if Waitrose moves out. The store is the heart of Bircherley Green and draws many people to the town who then go on to visit its other shops and many cafes. The move to Great Amwell would be a disaster and against all planning wisdom.

To take away Waitrose from Hertford is taking away the simple pleasure experienced by many of our older generation. To hop on the bus most days and walk a short way to shop for their treats and essentials is key to so many. Please do not take this away from them.

I would'nt bother driving out to the new location in great Amwell, think the turning in and out of that road is'nt easy. Very disappointed in Waitrose's decision. As a County Town we need a good quality supermarket.

In this world of corporate domination, why should we continue to agree with decisions of this nature. Waitrose could, if necessary, easily "lose" the so called deficit from the Hertford branch and not bat an eyelid. The hundreds (or possibly thousands) of loyal customers will be lost to the town forever. We are THE COUNTY TOWN - lets work together to make it so.

There is absolutely no reason to allow the supermarket development on the Amwell site, with major supermarkets at Hoddesdon and Ware within three miles of the location. The development will not be of any public merit, only benefiting commercial interests at the expense of Hertford town.

Currenty easy to get to for those who get the bus into Hertford. Not so many busses will stop in Great Amwell. Will finish off Hertford town centre if this goes.

If this gets the go-ahead, then it's the beginning of the end of the green belt in East Herts, which is rapidly going downhill as it gets sucked into the expansion of London.

Peoples shopping habits are changing and out of town supermarkets not as popular as it used to be. Building a out of town supermarket will be detrimental to Hertford's town centre. Not everyone wants to drive to get their groceries. I very much it doesn't go ahead.

I note that Van Hage say that their plans are not necessarily supermarket specific - my vote goes for keeping a high quality accessible supermarket in the very centre of Hertford, easily accessible to a wide range of customers
