Waitrose is very convenient for many people who rely on the local bus service to shop in Hertford. It is a short walk from the bus yard to the store and is ideally situated for elderly shoppers. They would sorely miss this store.

Van Hage's is an existing "Major Developed Site within the Metropolitan Green Belt". As such, development is approvable provided it does not result in either a significant increase in the footprint of the site or a significant increase in the business activity on the site. On both counts, this development should NOT be approved!

A new out of town supermarket is contrary to current planning policy, will cause traffic problems in the Great Amwell area and, of most concern, will have a detrimental effect on the town centres of Hertford, Ware and Hoddesdon. Waitrose should remain in Hertford, close to public transport links, and Van Hage should remain a garden centre only.

There is no compelling reason to allow an out of town store to be built on this greenbelt land. Doing so will increase traffic movements and be harmful to the local town centres as well as being contrary to demonstrated shopping habits

I am concerned that moving Waitrose from Hertford will prevent a lot of resident customers who are unable to drive using this store as they do regularly. Also that the new proposed supermarket development will impinge on green belt land

This planning application is contrary to planning policies, The roadway infrastructure cannot cope with all the extra vehicles, pollution, and it will be built on Green Belt. It will also be detrimental to the livelihoods of businesses in the High Streets of Ware and Hertford.

The current Waitrose services the community in Hertford town. A new, large supermarket would only be available to those with cars, generating more traffic and pollution while sacrificing precious green belt land.
