The City of Oviedo is proposing a Comprehensive Plan change for the spray fields (behind City Hall) from 1 home per acre to super high density. The final hearing is scheduled for April 18. At the planning session that was held on February 28th, Council consensus was to leave the spray fields as they are, but this issue is not settled until the final vote.
If this is something that you would not be excited about, please sign this petition &, if possible, show up at all future planning sessions, LPA Meetings & City Council meetings where this will be discussed.
The mayor has already stated on the record multiple times that she does not agree with adding 40 acres of high density on Mitchell Hammock until after the transportation concerns have been addressed there, not all council members are in agreement.
Since the state will not allow us to require transportation concurrency anymore, our only way to have discretion in what is allowed there is to keep the Comp Plan designation what it is now so future councils can be allowed to say "no" without risk of being sued for violating our own laws.

I really thought this might just be a quiet neighborhood gripe but the way this has picked up speed lately is honestly kind of shocking. People are finally looking at those spray fields and realizing what is actually at stake for the traffic out there on Mitchell Hammock. It makes me feel a lot better about the upcoming vote knowing so many of you are paying attention because heaven knows we need the focus during these council meetings.

I have lived in Oviedo for over 35 years, and I am against the zoning change for the spray fields on Mitchell Hammock.
Moved here 22 years ago from the Bronx for a reason. Dont want to see it turn into another Bronx. Keep conservation as conservation. Enough with the building. I want to see GREEN not more buildings and cars.
Nooo! No more apartments. The current traffic is already destroying Oviedo.
Good Lord. Not without making Mitchell Hammock at least six lanes ! There’s too much traffic already !
Oviedo ha become an apartment community. The small town feel is gone. Crime is up, traffic is terrible. Mitchell Hammock is a parking lot after 5: for Lockwood Blvd. to the 417. There is no upcoming road expansion. Oviedo is becoming Lake Mary and the is sad. Time to vote out the current city council and Mayor. Unfortunately we passed an amendment that they are in Office 4 years. I now how I'm voting after that.
The City can't keep up with the current maintenance needs so we don't need more growth to keep up with.
We do not need this. Traffic on these roads is awful enough and so dangerous

40 Dwellings per Acre on 40 acres? It was 40 acres zoned to allow for 150,300 sf of retail space, a sit-down and a fast-food restaurant, a drive-in bank, an 80-room hotel and 927 dwelling units. Aprox 2 cars per dwelling + all the business traffic.
