Sunset surf cafe is a haven of nice people, lovely food and essential surfing gear. If it was closed many a surf trip would be poorer for it.

Sunset Surf is an important facility and business in the area and I wholly agree that it should be granted retrospective planning permission.

Recent History When work started on this project in early 2014, neighbours were not given any advice concerning the work which was in progress and at no stage have we been given a chance to object via the normal channels - none of the usual 'Notices of Intent' were displayed prior to commencement of the work and none have ever been displayed since. Offers to mediate with neighbours have since been refused. This gross development in front of the building line (This line lies across the front of properties 6 to 10 Gwithian Towans) , was carried out without any consultation with neighbours, or for that matter with the local Parish Council (Gwinear/Gwithian Parish Council) and presumably not even with the Planning Authority, yourselves. Some of the neighbours who are too old or ill to complain are very disturbed by it. No consideration has been given to the thoughts and feelings of the elderly neighbours who have lost their privacy due to this lofty carbuncle of a construction. From the high level of these platforms all and sundry, often using cameras, can look into our properties. Promises In May 2014 after several months of 'activity' at the site and in response to a questionnaire put to him on behalf of concerned and disturbed occupants of Morraps Field by Mr. Bowman - Mr Bell produced a response and a promise of consideration. Very little of this has come to fruition, promises unfulfilled and the development continued unchecked, don't you agree? Below are some of the main objections: Reference: PA15/05086 The long overdue submission of the revised Planning Application of Sunset Surf is disappointing and falls way short of ensuring the neighbours' historical levels of privacy. The only change visible in the drawings appear to be the installation of wooden planters. This relatively cheap 'fix' is ill thought out, vague and intrinsically unsafe. Photographic evidence of the extended cafe has been supplied to both GPCC and Planning Officers. It's build line now exceeds all of the eight other properties at the western fringe of Morrops Field. The additional north facing window installed in this extension now overlooks all the immediate neighbouring properties. This reduction in our historical level of privacy has not been addressed, yet it is the simplest and cheapest to overcome. Precedent has already been set with recent Planning Applications on Gwithian Towans. PA15/01802 referring to 27 Gwithian Towans, 5 doors north of Sunset Surf, has been re-submitted with modified plans which include frosted glass to preserve overlooked neighbours' historical levels of privacy. The same neighbourly approach has not been displayed in this re-application for retrospective planning permission. 'Happy Snappers' taking photos from the cafe window is now a common occurrence and must stop. No-one has a right to a view. We all have a right to historical levels of privacy. The offending window glass should be frosted as in previous applications which do respect their neighbours' privacy. A similar approach should also be taken for the new south facing porch window that will help return some level of privacy to neighbours on that side. As to the ill-thought through option of planters on the balcony, I am sure that the parents of the first child to climb on them and fall over the balustrades on to the stone steps or rutted roadway will sue all those involved with this idea. We love this place! We visited before the storm damage and more recently. The restoration work is fantastic. They serve fantastic food and the service is great. The best cafe in a superb location.

A great cafe in a great location, it fits into the landscape perfectly. It would be a tragedy to loose it.

A Much Needed Facility

I believe the work carried out at Sunset Surf following the storm damage has been carried out to a very high standard and significantly improves the visual quality of chalet development on the seafront. We own a chalet behind Sunset Surf and strongly support this application.

I support this planning application as Sunset surf hugely enhances the Towans and the changes made are all in keeping with the local area

We should be supporting local business and helping them thrive, rather than objecting on petty grounds, of which all seem to have been addressed

Please approve this planning application. Sunset Surf is a lovely little cafe which is a credit to the local community and economy. It would be a great loss to the Gwithian area if it was forced to close.

What possible benefit could there be from not passing this planning application?

Sunset Surf is a vital asset to the Gwithian community- both residents, holiday makers and for its customers. The Planning Application should be approved

we love to sit at the terrace , watch the waves and enjoy the great food of the cafe and when we are back home we always look at the webcam to feel a little bit like we are there again

As a local resident and regular user of the cafe and the Towans in general, I completely support Sunset Surf's application. The work following storm damage has been done thoughtfully and has resulted in an excellent amenity that deserves support from the Council for the benefits it provides to visitors and residents alike.

We have been visiting Gwithian for many years and Sunset Surf has always been a permanent fixture and well-loved cafe and surf shop. The retrospective planning must be allowed to go through.
