As a resident of Cornwall I am appalled at the council's narrow mindedness regarding this business.The repairs and extension were carried out in a sympathetic manner in keeping with the surroundings and improving facilities for visitors to the area. Close Sunset Surf and then watch your revenue from the expensive car park fall through the floor!

We only found this fantastic spot in June during a 3 week stay at the Caravan Club site. I have been in the web cam every day to get a "Cornwall Fix". Typical pen pushing attitude and I would urge the council to consider the impact on the lives of those affected, not least the loss of business tax and income tax etc of the employees.

Can't imagine why it was rejected. The repairs have been tastefully undertaken and the amenity has if anything improved. And despite the Council Sunset still provide a pleasant and valuable asset to the community. As with all emergency repairs retrospective applications are the norm, so corner cutting and self interest are not the issue here.

Do not know the area personally , but do know that places like this need saving as they appear to give so much back to the local community all the year round. I also know that councils can not be allowed to destroy these family run businesses just because of 'red tape' and time limits.

I am rather biased because my family own this, and I worked here for five or so years... but worth a comment anyway. What a lot of people do not realise that visit during the summer is come September, the lifeguards leave, the toilets are locked and the importance of Sunset Surf increases dramatically. It becomes even more of a social hub on the beach, providing essential services which the Council fails to provide out of season. It becomes the public toilet, the first aid point, the meeting point for lost children and animals, somewhere in a quite a dangerous cliffy landscape (when dark and cold) that people can aim for when in need of help. The number of people we have given lifts to that are lost, the number of dogs we have helped find, or helped rescue after falling off the cliffs.. Mums we have phoned when kids are stuck and lost track of time on the beach... the number of weaver fish stings that have been dealt with after the lifeguards have gone home... the list goes on. Sunset Surf has stayed open nearly every day of the year for ten years, something that a lot of business's in Cornwall cannot claim. It has paid business rates to Cornwall Council despite receiving no facilities in return (no street lighting, no road surface repairs, no sewerage, no refuse collection), and in return Cornwall Council has bullied Sunset Surf, and other businesses on the beach and their customers with ridiculous car park charges and no usual Council services. Sunset Surf has stayed open all year, employing and training local staff, hundreds over the years, who have been able to take these skills as they grow older and better themselves in the world. Many we can't get rid of because they like it there so much, and keep coming back :-) This complete lack of professionalism by Cornwall Council is just another example of their on going incompetence, and unless people actually stand up to them they are likely to either let this drag on for years causing stress and f

this would be an absolute disaster if sunset surf did not get planning permission. the café was in desperate need of repair and refurbishment and this has been carried out in a tasteful and sympathetic manner.

Please give retrospective planning permission, this is a great small business and employer. It is also an attraction to visit this area.

I wish to support the retrospective planning application. The works have greatly improved the area and provide a very popular year round cafe/shop/surf hire etc. the old decking area was often slippy and dangerous, it is now perfect.

Let common sense prevail. It was freak storm damage and these people wanted to keep their business and those it supports going. It fit's perfectly in it's surroundings.

It being a major influence in my choice of holiday destination every year.It would not be the same without Sunset Surf and it's closure could well send me elsewhere

This is a highly valued organisation and a much needed local business to both locals (myself a local surfer)and holidaymakers to benefit from and thoroughly deserves the support of our local council to pass this planning application.

Do not close this superb local business!

Sun Set Surf is a much used and needed place. It is a good place for tourists and locals to enjoy.

As a regular visitor to the Gwithian area and an avid viewer of the sunset café webcam when at home I am very sad to hear about these difficulties. Surely Cornwall Planners must know how many businesses suffered at the hands of the spring tides /storms of 2014. Please show a little more understanding to this thriving and great little café.
