Funnily enough Sunset Surf (or Sunset Stores as it was known originally) has been there since the 1930's. People that have bought property in the vicinity knew exactly what was there, and the majority of the neighbours are happy with the renovations, and in fact the sensitive and considerate manner in which the business is run.
You sound like one of these people that would buy a house next to a football stadium or a pub, and then complain about the noise afterwards ;-)

Unfortunately since you haven't been brave enough to use your real name in this comment, I cannot really address your concerns specifically, or in fact, take you completely seriously. Your comments just come across like spiteful trolling... and are factually incorrect. One thing that does intrigue me about you, is your comment states you are from Broadstone, which is near Poole in Dorset, but the language you use comes across that you are local? It is very easy these days to jump online using a fake name and attack others, but your behaviour will gain very little respect from most.

To even consider that a local business opposite a Council Car park would "support increased parking charges and restrictions" is just ridiculous. Why would any business support car parking charges and restrictions which make it less likely for customers to visit their business? Your entire point here is wrong and absurd. Sunset Surf has always opposed the pay and display machines, the removal of the car park attendant, and the increase in car parking charges. The pay and display machines actually cause the business a massive headache due to being constantly asked for change by people visiting the beach. This actually costs the business money, it gets no benefit or gain from the car park, or the way the council manages it. In fact Sunset Surf raised thousands of signatures in a petition against the car park changes and charges... You obviously missed that.
As a family we actually believe that beach car parks should be free, so everyone can come and enjoy the benefits of the outdoors. Cornwall Council obviously do not agree with this, but prefer to charge for the car park during for the Summer, while in our humble opinion, not spending any of their vast parking profits on the upkeep of the car park and beach infrastructure. Sadly this seems to be the same up and down the coa

years and always patronised Sunset Surf - admired the new layout this year and hope you can overcome current problems.

We visit Gwithian at least 6 weeks every year & always use the café, its part of the magic of the area. Good prices & dog friendly IT MUST STAY

Mr Bell has consistently alienated the surfers of this area. Before he and his family took over there was a thriving surf community who frequented the carpark and cafe. With his pricing, attitude and support for increased parking charges and restrictions he has forced that community to relocate. He has no respect for local people and is generally dismissive of anyone he feels cannot further his commercial success. This is just the latest example of his assuming that the area exists solely to provide him with an income. I'm glad planning was refused, I hope it is continued to be refused and that we finally see the back of these money grabbers.

This is following the Council refusal to grant permission again, on the grounds that Mr Bell ignored them. Just hope the new purchaser realizes the place needs to be put back to how it was, before the so called "storm" !
Moral of the story: Don't mess with the Cornwall Council, they always win!

i take 2 holidays a year at st ives bay holiday park and after a long walk down the beach this cafe is nice to take a break and give my legs a rest,
