I live in port wellar and have 2 growing boys that will love the beach volleyball at Sunset Beach. I have been playing competitive beach volleyball since I was 16. Please consider this project.

Very naive understanding of what this would take. The road access to the beach would need to be drastically redone, landscaped, paved; the washroom facilities would have to be improved; electrical would have to be brought in for first aid requirements; policing; parking enforcement; etc. It's not 24 poles in the sand. It's the complete monopolization of the beach by one group. Good facility, wrong location. Only if EVERYONE plays volleyball. Which most people don't, which is why there is now two courts there, and the rest of the beach remains open for all the other things people like to do at a beach. Good idea, wrong location.

It sounds like it, but it's really not. It's the takeover of a beach by one group. The beach is for everyone, not just a commercial volleyball league.

Lose lose. The city of St. Catharines loses a huge piece of its last beach for a private league. And city taxpayers are then on the hook for the cost of 1) INfrastructure improvement, 2) policing 3) road improvement 4) sewage installation, etc. Great idea; bad location. Leave the beach for everyone

With that logic, what if Port Weller Soccer League had more money than Niagara Rapids and wanted to build a platinum version soccer pitch on the beach? It's not about money. It's about the beach as a resource for all, not just one volleyball league. Build a 12 court facility -- just don't do it on the beach. Bad idea for the rest of the city.

Great idea, wrong location. Imagine all the Toronto beach front taken up by volleyball leagues with no room for other people? In St. Catharines, we have approx 187m of beach. This group wants over half of that. Bad idea for the city at large.

Mr. Duemo: the idea is good, the location is wrong. Once a beach gets monopolized by a single-use group it's the first step to complete takeover. The beach is a rare natural resource that should be open and accessible to all. Great idea to build it -- just the wrong location. Think of all the empty school yard land that sits quietly all summer: what a great idea to put public school lands to use with volleyball all summer. Not taking over the beach.

the community also needs a free beach where people can go for multiple uses, not to be drilled in the head by volleyball leagues using over half of a public beach. Build it anywhere but the beach. They need sand; they don't need beachfront.

Then build it in Etobicoke. The City of Brampton just build a big facility but didn't use up the beach. The idea is good, the location is wrong. The beach is for everyone
