I ride Riverview all the time and have had a few close calls with people driving their car and not paying attention. We need a bike lane.

It makes a lot of sense especially if it is combined with 7 foot wide buffered bike lanes along Manatee Avenue. That would keep a bigger space between cyclists and motor vehicles and it part of the "new" bicycle land design. Also, pedestrians and motor vehicles should not have to share the same pavement. "SUN" in SUN Trails stands for "Shared Use Non-motorized". There would be no motor vehicles on the trail that will be separated from the road by a landscaped safety zone.

I am a member of the Sarasota Manatee Bike club , SMBC.us. We are very active in promoting safe biking in Manatee county and this change makes absolutely no sense.

I am all for more trails for our walkers, runners, and bikers. Traffic here is not conducive to utilizing the road for these activities.

Establishing a legitimate bicycle trail is one way to encourage people to get out of their cars and ride a bike to the beach.
