I hereby petition the Manatee County Administrator, the Manatee Board of County Commissioners, the Mayor of the City of Bradenton, and the Bradenton City Council to endorse, promote, and partially fund a multi-use bicycle/pedestrian trail between Riverwalk in Bradenton and Anna Maria Island. The path of this trail will be the 15.23 mile route which is the #1 multi-use trail for Manatee County as recommended by the MPO “Bicycle, Pedestrian, and Trails Master Plan” which was adopted on December 16, 2013 and which is listed on Table 6.4 “Regional Priority Projects” and Figure 6.3 “Priority Regional Multi-Use Trails Projects” (map) of the “Master Plan”. This trail is eligible for SUN Trail funding from the State of Florida.

The Manatee County officials are still ignoring the master plan they already signed off on years ago. We need to hit 250 signatures to make it impossible for them to keep pretending this trail does not matter. Blast this link to everyone you know so the board feels the heat.

The momentum we have built makes it impossible for the Manatee Board of County Commissioners to keep ignoring our demand for this trail. They have dragged their feet for far too long on a project that is already sitting in their own master plan. It is time they stop stalling and finally secure the SUN Trail funding we deserve.

We just hit 100 signatures and the Manatee County Commissioners are already feeling the heat. This trail project has been ignored for too long but they cannot keep looking the other way now.

Multi use trails are nothing but a plus for communities. Environmental preservation, clean tourism, a great boost for local economies.

I adamantly support this trail as it was ORIGINALLY proposed. Not with the later revision that places the trail along Manatee Ave West.

I think this would be a wonderful addition to our area. So much has been built up over the last few years and roads are so congested, its important to balance this out with a safe place to walk or cycle. People come to Florida to enjoy nature; not sit in their car trying to get somewhere, thank you.

I'm surprised this hasn't been done before. It seems unusual for a town this size to not have extensive, safe bike and walking paths. As more development is allowed, they'll be more and more necessary to help mitigate traffic and keep citizens safe.

Bradenton and Manatee County has a large and active group of cyclist who would welcome the opportunity to provide recommendations and guidance for trail systems of which they would be the primary users.

We most definitely need this trail and we need it OFF Manatee Avenue. I am a 20-year avid bicyclist and I will not ride Manatee. Please either keep the Riverview route or consider some re-routing where you have the bike path connectors at 45th and 67th or consider the Shore Acres neighborhood.

More trails in Manatee County are much needed. Connect it to Palmetto and all the way out to Emerson Point Park trail as well!
