Proposal
of an East West Bicycle Path Corridor
· A Class I bicycle trail open to
pedestrians, with a hard
smooth surface for use as a commuter bicycle/ multi-use path along the San
Diego River
o Extending approximately 30 miles from the mouth of the San Diego River at Ocean Beach to El Capitan
Dam in the El Monte Valley following the San Diego River Park system, wherever
possible
o Accommodating commuting for business and pleasure cycling
o Permitting commuting road-cyclist to travel at reasonable speeds
o Designed to have as few road-crossings as possible
o With connecting paths to the Trolley System
o Providing multi use access such as walking, jogging or just exploring the outdoors· To be funded by the SAN DIEGO RIVER PARK RE-DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS for
completion within 5 years

· A perfect fit for an environmental friendly Nature Park, Let’s Go GREEN
· Reduces motor vehicle traffic on our roadways· Saves fuel and reduces air pollution
· Provides an east-west corridor for cyclist to ride safety to work or the beach without the worry of
cars

The momentum for this project is undeniable and confirms that San Diego needs a safe path from the coast to the mountains. Post the petition link on Facebook today and tag your local official to demand they prioritize this trail extension.

DO IT. SD needs way better cycling infrastructure.
Living in OB and working out east, I would use this every single day. The traffic on the 8 is a nightmare, give us an actual way to get around.

Yes please! It feels so dangerous trying to bike anywhere near the river right now. We really need a safe space for people who dont want to drive everywhere.
